This linux distribution is only for playing movies, musics and displaying images and slideshows and watching TV. It has a shocking size of less than 9 MB! The interface is a colourful simple menu like of video games. You have to operate it by keyboard or remote as there is no mouse facility. It can play everything from AVIs to MP4s. You have an option to install it to your hard drive rather than running it from Live CD.

Damn Small Linux

What's amazing about this linux distributation is it's small size but a lot of functionalities.
It's less than 50 MB and runs from Live CD or USB drive. You can copy the whole os from CD into your ram, that will enable you to use the cd drive also. There are almost every feature from web browsers like Firefox to pdf viewer to the remote access programs Rdesktop and VNCViewer. There is xmms to play all your audio songs(including mp3). But for the time being there is not a video player included. It also contains a command line CD/DVD burning software. There are some games and many other things. ubuntu 7.04

ubuntu 7.04 is the first linux distribution that I am using for more than a week. It is the best linux distro I have come across. It has all the features that is usually needed daily. OpenOffice, Instant Messenger, Firefox web browser, Document Viewer (opens pdf, ps etc.), Music and Movie players (though you have to download codecs to play mp3, mpeg, divx etc. formats), CD/DVD writer, CD Ripper and many others. Softwares can be easily installed and removed through Add or Remove Programs.

You can download ubuntu or even request free CD. Get Ubuntu
